WHAT IS A MICRO-CREDENTIAL

A micro-credential is a group of activities or projects that provide specific development of career critical skills. The digital badge is a web-based artifact that conveys your completion of the micro-credential, similar to how a diploma represents your degree completion.

sUAS Mapping Micro-credential

Rose State College offers an sUAS Mapping micro-credential that is endorsed by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSHRE). The sUAS Mapping micro-credential combines the Drone Mapping, Photography & Videography course with two stackable certificates as shown below, demonstrating the skills-focused professional development and experiential learning activities necessary for the safe, legal operation of drones in various professional applications.

  • Drone Mapping, Photography & Videography course (2-day, in-person)

  • DroneDeploy Academy, Certified Analyst (earned within 3 months of class, online, cost included with class)

  • FAA Part 107 certification (earned prior to or within 6 months of class via the FAA)

Students who complete all three requirements and earn the sUAS Mapping micro-credential are eligible for reimbursement of the class fee using OSHRE micro-credential scholarship funds and could be eligible for reimbursement of their FAA Part 107 testing fee. Additionally, the associated sUAS Mapping digital badge can be easily added to a LinkedIn profile via Credly to display industry-relevant skills.

The sUAS Mapping micro-credential is the first-of-its-kind in the state of Oklahoma, and Rose State College is continuing to grow their sUAS programs in support of the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission UAS program goals. Starting in Spring 2023, Rose State will offer a three credit-hour, 16-week academic class (Introduction to UAS Operations) that combines all three aspects of the sUAS Mapping micro-credential: FAA Part 107 preparation, DroneDeply Certified Analyst, and intermediate-level aerial photography and videography.

Biotechniques Micro-credential

Combination of lab skills associated with aseptic technique, culturing, and identification with the application of techniques including DNA extraction, DNA amplification, protein purification, protein gel electrophoresis, western blotting, database mining, and scientific presentation. Completion is assessed by projects associated with identification of a microorganism and presentation of a poster covering DNA Barcoding of a specimen from either a fungal, invertebrate, or vertebrate source.

NSCA Certified Personal Trainer

This 4-week course via online and Zoom is designed to help you get ready for the NSCA – CPT exam by improving your knowledge, confidence, and motivation. This prep course provides in-depth coverage of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of personal trainers. Special coverage is given to the most relevant content of the exam covering:  Client Consultation/Fitness Assessment, Program Planning, Techniques of Exercise and Safety, Emergency Procedures, and Legal Issues.  Need some extra motivation to earn Micro-Credential NSCA CPT? –. Students who complete this course and pass the NSCA Certified Personal Trainer exam within 6 months of completing this course, will receive reimbursement for NSCA CPT exam registration fee and $339.00 enrollment fee.

Community Health Worker

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Micro-Credential will prepare you to meet the increasing demand for native community-based professionals who can identify barriers to health, and build trusted relationships to aid individuals and families in accessing healthcare and improving health outcomes. CHW’s are trained in effective communication, knowledge of primary/secondary preventive health services, identifying social drivers of health, and addressing health inequities that impede quality outcomes.
