Simulation Safety & Risk Management
Overview
Simulation Risk & Hazard Management introduces students to the identification, analysis, and mitigation of risks associated with operating and maintaining simulation systems. This micro-credential focuses on understanding how technical, operational, and environmental risks can impact safety, system reliability, and training effectiveness in aerospace and healthcare simulation environments.
Students learn to recognize potential hazards related to electrical systems, mechanical components, software behavior, human interaction, and operational procedures. Emphasis is placed on practical risk awareness. Students learn how technicians observe, document, and respond to risks before they become failures or safety incidents.
Through applied activities, students conduct basic risk and hazard analyses, document findings, and propose mitigation strategies appropriate for simulation labs and training facilities. The course reinforces the idea that risk management is a shared responsibility and a routine part of professional simulation operations.
This micro-credential prepares students to work safely and confidently in environments where simulation systems are used to support critical training outcomes. Upon completion, students are prepared to advance into regulatory compliance and professional practice micro-credentials within the SIMT pathway.
