Simulation Technology Foundations

Overview

Simulation Technology Foundations is the entry point into the Simulation Technology (SIMT) micro-credential pathway. This micro-credential introduces students to the core concepts, systems, and environments that support modern simulation used in aerospace, healthcare, defense, and workforce training.

Students gain a practical understanding of how simulation systems are built, how they function, and how technicians support them in real-world settings. Topics include simulation system components, basic electronics and signal flow concepts, lab safety, system terminology, and foundational troubleshooting approaches. Emphasis is placed on understanding the big picture of simulation technology rather than narrow, tool-specific training.

This micro-credential is designed for beginners and does not require prior simulation or electronics experience. Through a combination of online instruction and hands-on lab activities, students build confidence working around technical systems while learning the professional expectations of simulation environments.

Upon completion, students are prepared to move into more technical SIMT micro-credentials or to better understand the simulation systems they may already encounter in aviation, healthcare, or technical training workplaces.
